To protect puppies from acquiring a host of diseases (distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza, leptospirosis, and parvovirus) puppies should be vaccinated several times during its first several months. The vaccination is referred to as the 5-in-1. Vaccines are spaced out from two, three and four months of age, and then once a year. A puppy should be given four shots up until it is four months. Depending on the breed, shots can be administered until five months of age. Until the age of five months, American Staffordshire terriers/pit bulls, Doberman pinschers- and Rottweilers should be vaccinated.
While many people think of Boxers as aggressive, they are actually great with children. They were bred to be hunters, yes, but they were bred to corner prey, not kill it. As a result, they are protective, yet patient.
Older non-vaccinated bullmastiffs, over the age of four or five months, require a series of two vaccinations administered two to three weeks apart. Then they should follow up the vaccinations with an annual one. In various parts of the country, legislation mandates that bullmastiffs should be given a rabies vaccination. In the Big Apple, New York City, the local law requires that any pet over the age of three months be vaccinated for rabies.
The Bloodhound doesn't need to smell blood to find someone who is lost. It is said that his name instead means blooded hound, or aristocratic. They actually track people because people leave a trail of skin cells with their own unique odor wherever they go.
Dog Vaccination tip: Ask your veterinarian about any local vaccination requirements. Any time a canine becomes ill due to improper vaccination, it should be re-administered as soon as the bullmastiff is feeling better. Subsequent to the vaccination, do not allow a bullmastiff to sit on the floor of an animal hospital -- until four to five days following the final vaccination.
French poodles were originally used as hunting dogs, but, because their thick coats proved a problem in the bush and water, their owners started clipping them. They left hair on the ankles to protect against rheumatism, which is why poodles sometimes appear to have unusual haircuts.

The Broholmer is a breed that is recognized only in Denmark. It was thought extinct in the 1960's but, in December of 1974, a purebred Broholmer popped up in Finland. This dog was a male, and the owners hoped to find a female for him to mate with, but it never happened. While still recognized as a breed, an example has yet to appear again.
Give your bullmastiff plenty of exercise and never overfeed it.
Bloodhounds have dewlaps. What are dewlaps? They are strange looking, pendulous folds of skin on the back of the neck. They don't seem to serve any useful purpose to the bloodhound, but are rather interesting to look at.
